Afghan Consul General Seeks Urgent Intervention Over Property Seizures in Karachi

Islamabad – Zubair Kasuri: The Consul General of Afghanistan in Karachi has urgently requested assistance from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior regarding the illegal occupation of two Afghan properties in Karachi. Bungalow No. 2 on Mirza Khaliq Baig Road and another property owned by the Afghan National Bank have been unlawfully seized by a local party. The provincial president, Asif, and students Syed Nawaz Usman Wazir and Aftab, are reported to be involved in this occupation.

Despite multiple notifications to the Pakistani government, no action has been taken to resolve the issue. The Afghan Consulate has referenced diplomatic laws in its appeals, highlighting the legal obligation to protect foreign properties. An eviction agreement was reached on February 27, 2020, but it has not been enforced. The situation remains dire as more than 50 armed individuals are preventing the evacuation of these properties.

The Afghan Consulate continues to seek urgent intervention from Pakistani authorities to uphold diplomatic protocols and restore their properties.
