_MOBILE PHONE ASSOCIATION RAISES CONCERNS OVER PROPOSED DIGITAL NATION PAKISTAN ACT 2024

 

Islamabad, Pakistan – The Pakistan Mobile Phone Association has expressed concerns over the government’s proposed Digital Nation Pakistan Act

2024, citing a lack of industry consultation in developing the legislation.


In a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Ministry of IT and Telecom, the association highlighted the potential risks of unintended consequences if the industry is not involved in the legislative process.

The association appreciated the government’s efforts to prioritize the IT and telecom sector but emphasized the need for industry input to ensure the legislation is effective and beneficial to all stakeholders.

The move comes as the government prepares to introduce the Digital Nation Pakistan Act 2024, aimed at promoting the growth and development of the sector.

Industry insiders have welcomed the association’s move, saying it is essential to have a collaborative approach to legislation that affects the sector.

The government has yet to respond to the association’s concerns, but sources suggest that a review of the proposed legislation is underway.
