_TECH MINISTRY EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR RESOLVING OUTSTANDING DUES_

Islamabad,Zubair kasuri Pakistan – In a move aimed at resolving a long-standing issue, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has extended the deadline for the Steering Committee tasked with resolving outstanding dues of the Universal Service Fund (USF) against telecom operators.

The decision, announced on July 23, 2024, grants an extension till further orders, allowing the committee to continue its efforts to find an amicable solution to the dispute.

The Steering Committee, comprising top officials from the ministry, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and telecom operators, was constituted earlier this year to resolve the issue of outstanding dues, which has been a point of contention between the USF and telecom operators.

The committee’s extended deadline is seen as a positive development, as it allows for further negotiations and dialogue between the parties involved. The resolution of the outstanding dues is expected to benefit both the USF and telecom operators, and ultimately contribute to the growth of the telecom sector in Pakistan.

The ministry’s decision has been welcomed by industry stakeholders, who see it as a step in the right direction towards resolving the long-standing issue.
