BLASPHEMY CRACKDOWN: Pakistan Warns Social Media Users of Severe Penalties

Islamabad, Pakistan – In a bid to curb the spread of sacrilegious content, the Pakistani government has issued a stern warning to social media and internet users, threatening severe penalties for uploading, sharing, or propagating blasphemous material.

The warning comes as part of a broader crackdown on online blasphemy, with authorities vowing to take swift action against those found guilty of outraging religious feelings.

Under Pakistan’s stringent blasphemy laws, offenders can face up to 10 years imprisonment, life imprisonment, or even the death penalty, depending on the severity of the offense.

The government has urged citizens to report any instances of blasphemous content to the authorities, promising swift action against perpetrators.

This latest move has sparked debate about the balance between free speech and religious sensitivities in Pakistan, where blasphemy laws have long been a contentious issue.

As the government tightens its grip on online content, social media users are being warned to tread carefully to avoid falling foul of the law.
