KP Govt Withdraws MoU with GDA Amid Public Outcry

Abbottabad: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has yielded to public pressure and officially revoked the controversial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Guliyat Development Authority (GDA).

The move comes after widespread criticism over plans to grant the Monal Group of Company a lucrative project to modernize the Ayubia chairlift. This project, worth billions of rupees, would have involved the use of 60 kanals of land within the Ayubia National Park for commercial activities.
Critics raised concerns about the legality of the deal, arguing that the KP government had unlawfully granted the national park land to a favored entity at a significantly undervalued price.

They also warned that the project could severely impact the natural beauty of Guliyat.
The decision to scrap the MoU aligns with the Supreme Court’s earlier order to remove encroachments from national park lands across the country.
