Islamabad News Desk the Rwandan High Commission has lodged a formal complaint with the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding an incident involving the High Commissioner of Rwanda at Islamabad International Airport.

According to the complaint, the High Commissioner was subjected to an unnecessary and intrusive search of her personal belongings by an Airport Security Force (ASF) official. The official reportedly removed items from the High Commissioner’s hand luggage, including personal jewelry, and demanded tax exemption documentation.
The Rwandan High Commission described the official’s conduct as impolite and disrespectful, causing embarrassment to the High Commissioner. The complaint emphasizes that diplomats serving in Pakistan are exempt from body searches and inspection of their personal hand luggage.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken notice of the incident and directed the Ministry of Interior to conduct a thorough investigation. A report on the findings is expected to be shared with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs soon.
This incident has raised concerns about the treatment of diplomats at Islamabad International Airport and the need for sensitization of security personnel regarding diplomatic protocols.
