Pakistan Railways to Restore Babu Passenger Train and Sandal Express This Month

Pakistan Railways has announced the restoration of two passenger train services that were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Babu Passenger Train and Sandal Express will resume operations later this month, providing improved travel options for passengers in Punjab.

The decision comes as part of Pakistan Railways’ ongoing efforts to expand its network, restore discontinued services, and make rail travel more convenient for the public.

Babu Passenger Train to Resume on August 20

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi announced that the Babu Passenger Train will officially restart operations on August 20.

The train will once again operate between Lahore and Lala Musa, serving passengers who regularly travel between these cities and the towns along the route.

Its return is expected to benefit daily commuters, students, workers, and families who rely on affordable railway transportation.

Sandal Express to Restart on August 21

Pakistan Railways will also restore the Sandal Express on August 21.

The train will run between Multan and Sargodha, passing through Jhang and connecting several important cities in central Punjab.

The restoration of this route is expected to improve regional connectivity and provide passengers with another reliable travel option.

Services Were Suspended During the Pandemic

Both train services were suspended during the coronavirus pandemic when Pakistan Railways reduced operations because of health restrictions and declining passenger numbers.

Although many railway services resumed after the pandemic, the Babu Passenger Train and Sandal Express remained inactive until now.

Their return marks another step in Pakistan Railways’ plan to restore previously discontinued routes.

Decision Taken Following Public Demand

According to Railway Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, the decision to restart both trains was made after receiving repeated requests from passengers and local communities.

He said the restored services will make travel easier for thousands of people while also helping improve the overall performance of Pakistan Railways.

The minister added that expanding passenger services remains one of the department’s key priorities.

More Suspended Train Services to Return

The railway minister also revealed that Pakistan Railways plans to restore additional suspended train services during the current year.

The department is working to strengthen railway operations, increase the number of running trains, and provide better facilities for passengers across the country.

These improvements are part of the government’s broader plan to modernize Pakistan Railways and encourage more people to choose rail transport for safe, comfortable, and affordable travel.

With the return of the Babu Passenger Train and Sandal Express, passengers can expect improved connectivity and greater convenience as Pakistan Railways continues to revive services that were halted during the pandemic.
