PTA allows 10 free eSIM transfers, cuts price to Rs1,500

ISLAMABAD, Zubair Kasuri: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), responding to public demand, has announced major relief for eSIM users, allowing them to transfer their eSIM profile to a new mobile phone up to 10 times without any charge.

Previously, mobile operators had different procedures and charges for transferring eSIMs to new devices, reusing QR codes and re-issuing eSIM profiles, and users in some cases had to pay additional charges when changing their handsets. Under the new PTA decision, the first 10 device-to-device eSIM migrations will be completely free.

PTA has also reduced the maximum price for issuance of an eSIM and conversion of a physical SIM to eSIM from Rs2,000 to Rs1,500, providing an additional relief of Rs500 to consumers.

The new eSIM price and free migration facility will come into effect from August 17, 2026, across Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
