Malala Demands Action for Parachinar: Schools Closed, Community Under Siege

Parachinar – News Desk: Pakistan Nobel Peace Laureate Malala Yousafzai has issued a passionate plea for immediate action to alleviate the suffering of the Parachinar community, which has been under siege for over five months. In a powerful letter addressed to students and girls, Yousafzai condemned the closure of schools and blocked supply routes, highlighting the severe impact on education and basic freedoms.

“For more than five months, your community has been under siege, your schools have been closed and supply routes have been blocked,” Yousafzai wrote, expressing her solidarity with the residents. “You have been deprived of your freedom of movement and the opportunity to pursue your education.”

The prolonged siege has left children, particularly girls, unable to attend school, depriving them of their fundamental right to education. Yousafzai emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “It is critical that your classrooms open their doors once again… Any further disruption to your education is unacceptable.”

Malala Fund has been actively engaging with the Pakistani government, demanding swift action to ensure the safety of the community, reopen supply routes, and resume educational activities. Yousafzai also highlighted the widespread global support for Parachinar, noting, “Millions of Pakistanis and people around the world stand with you, and are outraged that these disruptions to your learning have been ongoing for months.”
Despite the hardships, Yousafzai commended the community’s resilience and determination to continue learning, emphasizing the importance of education for shaping future generations. “Your courage, strength, and determination to continue learning are an inspiration to me,” she wrote. “Know that your voices are being heard and that a global community is behind you.”

The letter concluded with a message of hope, urging the community to remain steadfast in their fight for freedom and education. Malala Fund, with its global presence, reiterated its commitment to advocating for girls’ education and demanding action from authorities.
This intervention from Malala Yousafzai underscores the urgent need for resolution in Parachinar, where the siege has not only disrupted education but also threatened the basic rights and well-being of the community.
