Finalists Under King Mohammed VI’s Instructions
Rabat: Under the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, His Royal Highness
Prince Moulay Rachid received on Monday at the Royal Guests Palace in Rabat the members of
Morocco’s National Football Team, runners-up of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON
Morocco-2025).
The reception honored the national squad following their strong performance throughout the
tournament, where the team reached the final match and finished as AFCON 2025 finalists, further
strengthening Morocco’s stature in African and international football.
Upon arrival, Prince Moulay Rachid was greeted by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal
Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), along with national coach Walid Regragui and members
of the national team. The event included a warm welcome and a commemorative photo session
marking the occasion.
The reception reflects the continued High Benevolence and strong support of King Mohammed VI
toward Moroccan youth, particularly through sports development. It also highlights the importance
the Sovereign attaches to the advancement of the sports sector, with a special focus on football as
a national priority.
Immediately after the final match between Morocco and its Senegalese counterpart, King
Mohammed VI sent a congratulatory message to the members of the national team, praising their
perseverance, dedication, and team spirit as key drivers of excellence.
The Sovereign also emphasized that the team’s achievement showcased the potential of Moroccan
and African youth when they believe in their talents and abilities. He further noted that the team’s
determination and heroic performance reflects the significance of his strategic vision focused on
investing in human capital and modernizing Morocco’s infrastructure—efforts that also strengthen
national readiness ahead of hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
