Experienced Railway Officer Muhammad Hanif Gul Appointed as DS Multan

Islamabad / Lahore: Pakistan Railways’ decision to appoint seasoned officer Muhammad
Hanif Gul as Divisional Superintendent (DS) Multan is being viewed within railway circles
as a timely and strategic move. Multan Division, known for its operational complexity and
heavy passenger and freight flow, requires experienced leadership capable of delivering
discipline, safety oversight, and administrative stability.

Muhammad Hanif Gul previously served as Divisional Superintendent Lahore, where he
supervised field inspections, operational management, and infrastructure initiatives.
Lahore Division remains one of the busiest operational segments within Pakistan
Railways, requiring consistent monitoring and administrative coordination.

He also served as Divisional Superintendent Karachi, a high-pressure division marked by
significant traffic movement and infrastructure demands. His tenure in Karachi
strengthened his credentials in field command, operational supervision, and performance
management.

Subsequently, he was appointed Chief Operating Superintendent / Safety at Pakistan
Railways Headquarters, reflecting institutional trust in his safety oversight and operational
command abilities. The position further enhanced his role in policy-level operational
monitoring.

Multan Division forms a critical part of Pakistan’s central railway corridor and holds
strategic importance within the broader Main Line-1 framework. Experts emphasize that
leadership in Multan must prioritize operational discipline, infrastructure improvement,
punctuality, and prevention of revenue leakages.

Beyond administration, Muhammad Hanif Gul describes himself publicly as a civil servant,
teacher, and advocate of civic responsibility. His engagement in intellectual discussions
and mentoring activities reflects a broader commitment to institutional development and
public service.

Observers believe that if structured reforms in discipline, safety compliance, and
accountability mechanisms are implemented effectively, Multan Division could emerge as
a model division within Pakistan Railways under his leadership.

The appointment signals continuity in professional leadership and reinforces expectations
for operational consolidation, transparency, and reform-driven management within one of
the country’s most significant railway divisions.
