Kabul, August 5: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul observed Youm-e-Istehsal with a ceremony reaffirming Pakistan’s continued diplomatic, political, and moral support for the people of Kashmir and their right to self-determination.
Addressing the event, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, said that support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. He stated that Pakistan will continue to raise the issue of Kashmir and advocate for the protection of Kashmiris’ fundamental rights at every international forum.
Ambassador Nizamani said that India has failed to secure domestic or international legitimacy for its actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He added that the people of Kashmir remain steadfast in their resistance to what he described as attempts to alter the demographic composition of the region.
He further stated that the unity and determination of the Kashmiri people send a clear message that they will continue their struggle until their legitimate right to self-determination is realized. According to the ambassador, policies of coercion and repression would only strengthen their resolve.
During the ceremony, messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar were also read out. A documentary highlighting the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir was screened for the participants.
The event marked Pakistan’s annual observance of Youm-e-Istehsal, commemorated on August 5 to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
