RABAT (News Desk): King Mohammed VI of Morocco has strongly condemned repeated attacks by Houthi militias against Saudi Arabia, reaffirming Morocco’s support for the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty and stability.
According to a statement issued by the Royal Office, King Mohammed VI conveyed his position in messages addressed to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.
The Moroccan monarch expressed deep concern over attacks targeting civilian and economic facilities, vital infrastructure, cities and residential areas in Saudi Arabia. He also condemned attempts targeting Mecca and Medina, describing the holy sites as sacred to Muslims around the world.
King Mohammed VI said the attacks represented not only aggression against Saudi Arabia and its people but also an affront to the sentiments of Muslims globally and a violation of Islamic values that emphasize peace, tolerance and respect for human life and holy places.
The King expressed Morocco’s condemnation of the attacks and held the Houthi militias and those supporting, financing and arming them responsible for the consequences of their actions.
He further emphasized the close strategic ties between Morocco and the Gulf states, stating that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are inseparable from Morocco’s own security and strategic interests.
“Any aggression against Saudi Arabia is an aggression against Morocco,” the Moroccan King said, reaffirming his country’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and the Arab Gulf countries.
King Mohammed VI also warned about the wider regional consequences of attacks carried out by armed groups and their supporters, particularly those affecting regional stability and vital maritime routes that are important to international trade and navigation.
The Moroccan monarch further referred to relevant United Nations resolutions, including UN Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015) and Resolution 2722 (2024).
He said the continuation of attacks constituted a violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions. He also stressed that attacks targeting civilian areas, economic infrastructure and holy sites violate international humanitarian law and international conventions.
The statement reaffirmed Morocco’s position in support of Saudi Arabia’s security and stability and highlighted the close historical, religious and strategic ties between the two countries.
