Multan Sultans’ Iftikhar Ahmed Sets Sights on PSL 9 Glory After Three Consecutive Wins
In a bold statement, Multan Sultans’ dynamic all-rounder, Iftikhar Ahmed, has expressed the team’s unwavering determination to clinch the coveted title of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season Nine. With an impressive record of three consecutive victories at the beginning of PSL 9, Multan Sultans are emerging as a force to be reckoned with in the tournament.
Speaking at a news conference, Iftikhar Ahmed emphasized the team’s singular focus on achieving championship glory. “Our entire focus is on becoming champions. We talk in the dressing room about becoming champions. If we play top cricket consistently, then we can become champions, and we have vowed that we will play good cricket in all three departments of the game,” declared Iftikhar.
The all-rounder’s statement comes on the heels of Multan Sultans’ recent triumph over defending champions Lahore Qalandars, where Iftikhar’s blistering 34 not out off 11 balls played a pivotal role in securing a five-wicket win at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Acknowledging the competitive nature of the PSL, Iftikhar stressed that there is no room for complacency at any stage of the event. “PSL is a sort of event where there is no room for getting relaxed, and this is a fact as a team and as a player. You cannot afford to get relaxed,” he cautioned.
Despite the team’s impressive performance, Iftikhar candidly admitted to lapses in fielding, including dropped catches and a missed stumping chance by captain Mohammad Rizwan. He acknowledged the need for improvement, emphasizing that perfection in all aspects of the game is essential for a team aspiring to be champions.
“In fielding, we made lapses, dropped catches, and Rizwan missed a stumping chance. He rarely does that. We will need to improve our fielding. If you are to become champions, you will need to do everything perfect,” concluded Iftikhar Ahmed.
