Islamabad: Zubair Kasuri

The Pakistan Telecom Authority has decided to take significant steps towards implementing 5G next-generation technology across the country. According to reliable sources, instructions have been issued to fulfill the spectrum requirements for 5G technology.

As part of this effort, dozens of companies holding Wireless Local Loop (WLL) licenses in 14 telecom regions have been instructed to terminate their annual licenses. The move aims to eliminate unnecessary wireless connections and enforce compliance with license regulations.

Sources revealed that many companies that obtained loop licenses have failed to start operations, violating the terms of their licenses and causing damage to the national treasury.

This development marks a significant step towards upgrading Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure and preparing for the rollout of 5G technology.
