ISLAMABAD CAPITAL TERRITORY CRACKS DOWN ON FAKE VEHICLE REGISTRATIONS

Islamabad, Special Report: In a bid to curb the rising incidence of fake or forged documents used for vehicle registration, the Excise & Taxation Department of Islamabad Capital Territory has imposed a ban on registering vehicles purchased through auctions conducted by Pakistan Customs.

The ban, effective immediately, targets vehicles cleared with “HC” machine numbers, and will remain in place until Pakistan Customs implements measures to prevent the use of fake documents.

According to officials, the move aims to maintain the integrity of the vehicle registration process and ensure that all vehicles on the roads are registered using legitimate documents.

The crackdown comes as authorities increasingly encounter fake or forged documents used for vehicle registration, particularly for auction-purchased vehicles. The Excise & Taxation Department has vowed to take strict action against those found using fraudulent documents.

The ban is expected to bring much-needed transparency to the vehicle registration process in Islamabad Capital Territory.
