Ayla Majid Makes History as ACCA’s First Pakistani President

Lahore, November 16, 2024: In a landmark achievement, Ayla Majid from Pakistan has been elected as the President of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a globally recognized accounting body. This marks the first time in ACCA’s 120-year history that a Pakistani individual has been elected to this prestigious position.
Ayla Majid, the founder and CEO of Plantive Middle East and Plantive Pakistan, is a prominent figure in the field of energy, decarbonization, and sustainability. She will lead ACCA’s global community of over 252,500 members and 526,000 future members across 180 countries.
Her election comes at a significant time for ACCA, as the organization celebrates its 120th anniversary and surpasses a quarter of a million members. Having joined ACCA in 2006, Ayla brings over 20 years of experience in various sectors, including energy, transactions, investments, and corporate governance.
“I am grateful to the ACCA members for their trust in me,” said Ayla Majid. “I look forward to focusing on topics such as ‘the future of accounting, strategic foresight, and stakeholder behavior.'”
Ayla is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Energy, a Young Global Leader, and an Eisenhower Fellow. She holds an MBA from Lahore University of Management Sciences and an LLB (Hons) from the University of London.
This is also the first time in ACCA history that all three top positions are held by women. Ayla Majid takes over the presidency from Ronnie Patton of Northern Ireland, acknowledging his service and inspiring leadership.
