Pakistan Reaches 200 Million Mobile Subscribers; PTA Plans Celebration

Islamabad, News Desk: Pakistan’s mobile connectivity landscape has reached a new peak, with the total number of mobile subscriptions hitting the 200 million mark. To commemorate this significant achievement, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced plans for a special ceremony.

The event, which is being organized under the gracious patronage of the Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan, is tentatively slated for May 16th or 17th, 2025, with the final date to be announced soon.

In the spirit of celebration and as a gesture of goodwill towards the public, the PTA is working in collaboration with its licensed Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and Mobile Device Manufacturers (MDMs). MNOs have already committed to offering free data and voice bundles to all their subscribers on the day of the event.

Furthermore, the PTA is calling upon Mobile Device Manufacturers to contribute 10 to 15 mid-range smartphone devices. These devices will be distributed to lucky winners through a draw during the ceremony. This initiative aims to symbolize the telecom industry’s dedication to promoting digital inclusion and enhancing connectivity across the nation.
The PTA has requested all relevant organizations to confirm their participation in this commemorative event by May 9th, 2025, and to provide details about the models and quantities of devices they intend to contribute. Formal invitations for the CEOs of the manufacturing companies will be sent out separately.

This milestone underscores the rapid growth and increasing importance of mobile communication in Pakistan. The upcoming ceremony promises to be a significant event, celebrating this achievement and highlighting the industry’s commitment to further progress.
