POST-EID PRICE SHOCK FOR PAKISTAN’S MOBILE USERS Five Major Smartphone Brands Increase Prices Simultaneously

By Zubair Kasuri, Islamabad: Pakistan’s smartphone market has witnessed a fresh wave of price hikes as five major mobile phone brands — Infinix, Tecno, Realme, Vivo and Oppo — have simultaneously increased retail prices on dozens of smartphone models across the country. The price revisions were announced immediately before and after Eid-ul-Adha, affecting devices ranging from entry-level handsets to premium 5G smartphones.

Documents obtained by Flare Magazine reveal that the increases range from Rs1,000 to as high as Rs10,000 depending on the model and storage variant.

The development comes at a time when Pakistan’s telecom sector continues to expand rapidly. According to industry figures, the country now has more than 204 million mobile subscribers and over 155 million 3G and 4G users, making smartphones an essential part of daily life for millions of Pakistanis.

Major Brands Announce New Prices

Infinix increased prices across several devices in its Hot and Note series. The Hot 60i saw an increase of Rs3,000 to Rs4,000 depending on the variant, while the Hot 60 Pro became Rs3,000 more expensive. The company also raised prices of its premium Note series devices, with the Note Edge 5G, Note 60 5G and Note 60 Pro 5G each increasing by Rs5,000.

Tecno followed a similar trend, revising prices upward across multiple product lines. The Spark GO 3 experienced an increase of Rs1,000 to Rs1,500, while Spark 50 and Spark 40 Pro models became Rs3,000 costlier. The Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro received the highest adjustment, increasing by Rs5,000 each.

Realme also implemented a broad price revision. The Note 60x series increased by Rs1,000 to Rs2,000, while Note 70 variants saw a Rs2,000 increase. The C71, C75x, C85 and C85 Pro all recorded price hikes of Rs3,000.

Vivo raised prices on selected budget smartphones. The Y05 (4GB+64GB) became Rs2,000 more expensive, while the Y05 (4GB+128GB) increased by Rs3,000. The Y11d (4GB+128GB) recorded a substantial increase of Rs4,000.

Among all brands, Oppo announced some of the most significant increases. The Reno 15 5G series saw price hikes ranging from Rs5,000 to Rs10,000 depending on the memory configuration. The A6s (8GB+256GB) increased by Rs5,000, while various A6K series models became Rs2,000 more expensive.

Why Are Prices Increasing?

Industry stakeholders point to several economic factors behind the latest adjustments. These include continued exchange-rate volatility, rising import and logistics expenses, increased local assembly costs, higher financing charges for distributors and ongoing inventory management challenges.

Market observers note that the near-simultaneous announcements from multiple manufacturers suggest an industry-wide pricing correction rather than isolated decisions by individual companies.

Consumers Feel the Pressure

Retailers and dealers across Pakistan fear that further increases could dampen smartphone demand in the coming months. Many consumers are already delaying handset upgrades and turning to the used mobile phone market as affordability becomes a growing concern.

The trend is particularly significant because smartphones have evolved from luxury gadgets into essential tools for digital banking, online education, e-commerce, ride-hailing services, remote work and social connectivity.

A Nationwide Impact

With more than 200 million active mobile connections in Pakistan, the latest round of price hikes is expected to influence purchasing decisions for millions of consumers nationwide. Analysts warn that if economic pressures persist, additional adjustments by smartphone manufacturers cannot be ruled out in the months ahead.

As Pakistan’s digital economy continues to expand, the affordability of smartphones remains a critical issue for both consumers and policymakers, making these latest price increases a matter of national economic importance.
