OTTAWA (News Desk): High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem held an interactive session with Ottawa-based engineering professionals and alumni of Pakistan’s Universities of Engineering and Technology (UET) on September 23, 2026, discussing opportunities to further strengthen Pakistan-Canada cooperation in engineering and high-tech sectors.
The session was attended by alumni and professionals associated with UET Lahore, UET Peshawar and UET Taxila. Hon. Member of Parliament Aslam Rana, an alumnus of UET Lahore, was the Chief Guest.
During the session, High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem appreciated the valuable contribution of Pakistan-origin professionals in Canada to the country’s socio-economic development.
He exchanged views with the participants on ways to enhance collaboration between Pakistan and Canada in engineering, technology and other high-tech sectors.
The participants also discussed the potential for developing stronger professional and institutional linkages between Pakistani universities, organisations and the Pakistani-origin engineering community in Canada.
High Commissioner Saleem welcomed the ideas shared during the interaction and highlighted the importance of utilizing the expertise and experience of Pakistani professionals abroad to create new opportunities for cooperation.
The session provided a platform for meaningful exchange of views and highlighted the potential for greater collaboration between Pakistan and Canada in engineering, innovation and emerging technologies.
