LemFi and BVNK Partner for Faster, Cheaper Money Transfers

LemFi, a financial platform that helps people send money across different countries, has announced a new partnership with BVNK, a company that provides stablecoin payment technology. The partnership aims to make international money transfers faster, cheaper, and more efficient without changing how customers use the LemFi app.

The biggest change will happen behind the scenes. Customers will continue sending and receiving money in their local currencies, while BVNK’s stablecoin technology will quietly handle the settlement process in the background. This means users will not need to buy, hold, or use cryptocurrencies themselves.

LemFi currently serves more than two million customers living and working in countries such as the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and North America. These users regularly send money to their families and friends in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Traditionally, international money transfers rely on correspondent banks and the SWIFT payment network. These systems have been in use for decades and often take several days to complete a transfer. Every bank involved in the process may charge a fee, making cross-border payments slower and more expensive.

Through its partnership with BVNK, LemFi plans to replace these traditional payment rails with regulated stablecoin-based settlement technology.

When a customer sends money through LemFi, the transfer will now be settled using stablecoins in the background. Once the payment reaches its destination, the recipient will receive the money in their own local currency just as before. The entire process is expected to be much faster while reducing transaction costs.

According to the World Bank, the average global cost of sending international remittances was 6.36 percent during the third quarter of 2025. This is more than double the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal, which aims to reduce remittance costs to 3 percent by 2030.

Experts believe that reaching this target could save families around the world nearly 20 billion US dollars every year. Lower transfer fees would allow migrant workers to send more money home instead of losing a significant portion to payment charges.

The partnership also reflects the growing importance of stablecoins in the global financial system.

Stablecoins are digital assets whose value is usually linked to traditional currencies like the US dollar. Unlike many cryptocurrencies, stablecoins are designed to maintain a stable value, making them more suitable for payments and international money transfers.

Over the past 12 months, real-world stablecoin payment transactions reached approximately 7.4 trillion US dollars.

Industry analysts believe stablecoins currently account for only around 3 percent of the global cross-border payments market. However, this figure could increase to 20 percent over the next ten years as more financial companies adopt the technology.

This latest partnership also builds on LemFi’s earlier plans to expand stablecoin payments.

In May 2026, stablecoin issuer Tether made a strategic investment in LemFi to support the company’s goal of using stablecoins to improve remittance services across emerging markets.

LemFi Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Ridwan Olalere said today’s international payment systems are outdated, slow, and expensive, especially for people who regularly send money to support their families.

He explained that stablecoins allow payments to settle almost instantly while reducing unnecessary costs, and BVNK provides the secure infrastructure needed to make this possible on a large scale.

One of the most important aspects of the partnership is that customers will not notice any complicated technical changes.

People using the LemFi app will continue sending money exactly as they do today. They will never have to own stablecoins, manage cryptocurrency wallets, or deal with blockchain technology directly.

Everything happens automatically behind the scenes while customers continue using familiar payment methods and local currencies.

LemFi says this approach allows users to enjoy the speed and lower costs of stablecoin technology without sacrificing simplicity, trust, or regulatory protection.

BVNK also brings strong regulatory experience to the partnership.

The company operates a compliance-focused payment platform with more than 25 licences and regulatory approvals across the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States. Its payment infrastructure is already available in over 130 countries and is used by several large international businesses.

BVNK Co-founder and Chief Business Officer Chris Harmse said stablecoins are becoming an important foundation for the future of global payments.

He added that international remittances are one of the areas where faster and cheaper payments can make the biggest difference, helping families receive more of the money their loved ones send from abroad.

The partnership marks another important step in LemFi’s growth.

The company is no longer focusing only on money transfers. It is gradually expanding into a full financial platform that also offers services such as payments, savings, credit, and financial connectivity for people living and working across different countries.

Over the past year, LemFi has continued expanding its global presence. The company recently selected London as its global headquarters and announced plans supported by a £100 million investment commitment. It has also expanded its regulatory approvals and operations across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia, Africa, and Asia.

LemFi said the new stablecoin settlement system will be introduced gradually across its different international payment routes.

The rollout will take place market by market and only in countries where local central banks and financial regulators allow the use of stablecoin-based payment infrastructure.

Overall, the partnership between LemFi and BVNK aims to modernize international money transfers by replacing older banking systems with faster and lower-cost payment technology. While customers will continue using the app exactly as before, the new infrastructure is expected to deliver quicker settlements, lower fees, and a better experience for millions of people who rely on cross-border remittances to support their families
