Bank of Khyber Partners with Wateen Telecom

Bank of Khyber (BoK) has signed a new partnership with Wateen Telecom Limited to improve its digital systems and strengthen the security of its banking services.

The agreement will help the bank upgrade its technology infrastructure by installing a centralized Wi-Fi network and an advanced Web Application Firewall (WAF). These upgrades are designed to provide faster, more reliable internet connectivity while protecting the bank’s online services from cyber threats.

The agreement was signed by Rashid Zaman Khan, Chief Information Officer, and Syed Muhammad Jafar, Head of IT Operations, on behalf of Bank of Khyber. Wateen Telecom was represented by Adil Rashid, Chief Executive Officer, and Nasir Mahmood, Vice President. Senior officials from both organizations also attended the signing ceremony.

Secure and Faster Network

As part of the partnership, Wateen Telecom will deploy a centralized wireless network across Bank of Khyber’s offices. This system will allow the bank to manage its Wi-Fi services from one central platform, making the network more efficient, stable, and easier to maintain.

Employees will benefit from faster and more reliable internet access, while the bank will have better control over its network performance and security.

Stronger Protection Against Cyber Threats

The project also includes the installation of a Web Application Firewall (WAF). This is a security system that protects websites and online applications by monitoring and filtering internet traffic.

The WAF will help defend Bank of Khyber’s digital banking platforms and internet-facing applications against cyberattacks such as hacking attempts, malicious traffic, and other online security threats. This added layer of protection will help keep customer information and banking services safe.

Supporting Digital Transformation

Bank of Khyber said the partnership is part of its broader strategy to modernize its technology and expand its digital banking capabilities.

By investing in advanced networking and cybersecurity solutions, the bank aims to improve operational efficiency, strengthen its cyber resilience, and provide customers with a smoother and more secure banking experience.

Building a Future-Ready Bank

The collaboration with Wateen Telecom marks another important step in Bank of Khyber’s digital transformation journey. The bank believes that modern technology and strong cybersecurity are essential for delivering better financial services and supporting long-term growth.

With this new partnership, Bank of Khyber hopes to build a more secure, reliable, and future-ready banking environment that can meet the growing digital needs of its customers while protecting them from evolving cyber risks.
