DEIK to further reinforce Pakistan-Turkey Economic Cooperation

The President of Turkey’s Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), Mr. Ömer Cihad Vardan, met with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Sohail Mahmood in Ankara. He was accompanied by DEIK’s General Secretary Mustafa Mente. During the meeting, views were exchanged on intensifying and further expanding trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey.

Ambassador Sohail Mahmood lauded DEIK’s role in reinforcing efforts to build stronger bilateral economic ties and appreciated Mr. Ömer Cihad Vardan’s personal contribution to that end. He also thanked DEIK for its support in organizing the roadshow for Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Road Programme in Istanbul on 2 July 2015. Ambassador Sohail Mahmood also apprised him of the efforts at the governmental level to forge a closer economic relationship, including through a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), and promotion of investments in the energy, infrastructure and other related sectors.

President Vardan reaffirmed DEIK’s commitment to lend all possible support to these efforts and facilitate interface between the private sectors of the two countries, to help realize the vision of a robust Pakistan-Turkey economic partnership.
