A high level delegation from Haier led by Mr. Zeshan Qureshi, CEO Haier Mobile & IT and Mr. Khalid Afridi, Director Haier, called on the Chief Minister to express interest in investing in Pakistan to set up an assembly line for mobile phones.
Mr. Zeshan also apprised the Chief Minister that Haier has already set up an assembly line for laptops which is the first of its kind in Pakistan. The mobile phone assembly line will be another first for Haier. The assembly lines are expected to contribute to the local economy, generate employment, train technical and skilled labor and also be used to fulfill the laptop and mobile phone requirements for neighboring countries by exporting assembled in Pakistan products. Mr. Qasim Tariq, GM Enterprise Business for Haier Mobile also highlighted that Haier is already supplying 200K units of laptops to the Federal Government under the PM N
ational Laptop Scheme out of which 150K units will be assembled in Pakistan. The Chinese delegates from Haier’s Headquarter in Qingdao China gave a presentation on Haier Global Operations and pioneering efforts in the field of IT globally. The CM was informed by the delegation of the intention of Haier to expand the capacity and capability of its existing assembly line from SKD to CKD in the near future. An invitation to visit the Haier Digital City in Qingdao was also extended to the Chief Minister to showcase state of the art technology and technological advancements being made by Haier in the field of electronics. Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashood was also present on the occasion.
