FACEBOOK REFUSES TO COMPLY WITH PAKISTANI LAWS_

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN – The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing has revealed that Facebook has failed to comply with Pakistani laws, sparking concerns about the social media giant’s commitment to combating online extremism.

FACEBOOK IGNORES 5,586 DATA REQUESTS

The FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing has submitted 7,139 data requests to Facebook since January 1, 2020, but the social media giant has only fulfilled 1,553 requests, leaving 5,586 pending.

HATE SPEECH AND EXTREMISM SPREAD ON FACEBOOK

In 2024 alone, 864 URLs containing hateful content were reported to Facebook, but the social media giant failed to take action, raising concerns about its commitment to combating online extremism in Pakistan.

CYBER CRIME AGENCY WARNS OF DANGERS

The FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing has warned of the potential dangers of Facebook’s non-compliance, urging the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and other relevant authorities to take immediate action to address the issue.

FACEBOOK’S NON-COMPLIANCE POSES NATIONAL SECURITY THREAT

Facebook’s refusal to comply with Pakistani laws poses a significant threat to national security and social harmony, and the government must take swift action to ensure that social media platforms operate within the bounds of Pakistani laws.
