In a recent media interaction, Chairman PTA Major General Hafiz Rehman clarified several misconceptions regarding the technology used to control gray traffic. He emphasized that the term “firewall” is not officially used by the PTA and is a term created by others.
Major General Rehman stated, “The term ‘firewall’ is not used in our official terminology; it is a term you have created yourselves.” He further explained, “The system in place is referred to as a Web Management System (WMS), not a firewall.”
He also noted that the National Frequency Spectrum (NFS) has approved the system. “The system we have implemented is designated as WMS, and it is not limited to social media alone,” he added.
These remarks aim to clarify the purpose and scope of the PTA’s technology in managing internet traffic and its broader applications beyond social media platforms.
