FIA Gujranwala Apprehends Prime Suspects in Libya Boat Tragedy

Gujranwala, Pakistan – In a significant breakthrough, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team in Gujranwala has successfully arrested the main accused involved in the tragic Libya boat accident. The suspects, identified as a father and son from Dharamkot, were apprehended for their alleged involvement in a human trafficking network that led to the deaths of hundreds of individuals.
The FIA investigation revealed that the accused had deceived 18 individuals, promising them safe passage to Italy through Libya, and fraudulently collected over 4 crore 40 lakh rupees from them. The victims were tragically lost at sea when the overcrowded boat capsized.
Following the incident, cases were registered against the suspects on June 14, 2023, but they managed to evade capture until now. Their arrest marks a major victory in the fight against human trafficking and brings a sense of justice to the families of the victims.
The FIA Gujranwala team, led by Deputy Director Zoar Manzoor Waraich, has been actively pursuing this case and remains committed to dismantling human trafficking networks operating in the region.
