Kohat, Pakistan – A five-day polio vaccination campaign kicked off in Kohat district yesterday, aiming to immunize 213,673 children against the debilitating disease. The campaign will see 1,081 teams visiting households across the district to administer polio drops.
According to District Health Officer Dr. Mohabbate Khan, the campaign is crucial in preventing childhood disability caused by polio. “We urge the public to fully cooperate with our teams to ensure the success of this campaign,” he said.
To ensure the safety of the vaccination teams, 1,600 security personnel have been deployed, said a police spokesperson.
Deputy Commissioner Abdul Akram also appealed to the public to support the campaign, stating that their cooperation is vital in protecting the health and well-being of children in the district.
The campaign will run for five days, with teams going door-to-door to distribute polio drops to children.
