Islamabad, Pakistan – Authorities have imposed strict travel restrictions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi today, October 4th, 2024, in response to security concerns. All main access points to Islamabad leading towards D-Chowk are closed from both Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Pillion riding is banned and Section 144 has been imposed in the twin cities.
Travel on the M1 and M2 motorways is strongly discouraged. The Metro Bus service is also suspended for taInternet and mobile signals have been suspended in both cities, and Google Maps is not currently providing updated information.
Residents are advised to avoid all unnecessary travel until midnight today. Those with CIE exams scheduled are advised to leave at least one hour earlier than usual.
These measures have been taken to ensure public safety and maintain order. The situation is expected to be reviewed later today.
