Pakistan Army Deployed to Balochistan for Law and Order Maintenance

Islamabad,Zubair kasuri, The Pakistani government has authorized the deployment of 31 units of the Pakistan Army and 107 wings of the Frontier Corps (FC) to Balochistan province to maintain law and order. The deployment was requested by the Balochistan Home Department and will be in effect from October 15, 2024, to October 14, 2025.

The decision was made under Article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan, Section 131-A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 1898, and Sections 4 & 5 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997. The troops will not receive any internal security allowance to avoid burdening the national and provincial exchequer.
The deployment comes in response to ongoing security challenges in the province, including militancy, sectarian violence, and targeted killings. The army and FC will assist civilian law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
This is not the first time that the army has been deployed to Balochistan for internal security duties. The province has a long history of insurgency and instability, and the military has often been called upon to assist in maintaining order.
The deployment has been met with mixed reactions from the public and political parties. Some have welcomed the move, saying it is necessary to restore peace and stability in the province. Others have expressed concerns about the potential for human rights abuses by the military.
The government has assured the public that the troops will operate within the bounds of the law and respect human rights. It has also said that the deployment is a temporary measure and that the army will be withdrawn once the situation improves.
