Railways Minister Meets with Union Leader, Addresses Employee Concerns

LAHORE – Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi held a special meeting at the Railways Headquarters Lahore with Sheikh Muhammad Anwar, Central President of the Prem Union CBA. The meeting centered on discussions about the various challenges and issues faced by railway employees.

During the meeting, President Sheikh Muhammad Anwar voiced the concerns of railway workers regarding the government’s proposed privatization of the railways. He also expressed concerns and reservations about these plans.

Sheikh Muhammad Anwar praised the Railways Minister’s efforts in revitalizing the railway system, specifically acknowledging the restoration of freight services and other significant policy decisions.

He further requested an extension of profitable train routes, specifically the Khushal Khan Khattak Express (Peshawar to Karachi) and the Musa Pak train, up to Dera Ghazi Khan. The Railways Minister responded positively, assuring that the Musa Pak train’s route would be extended to Dera Ghazi Khan after Eid-ul-Fitr.

Addressing employee welfare, Sheikh Muhammad Anwar requested the disbursement of advance salaries before Eid. The Railways Minister promptly instructed relevant officials to take action on this matter.

The Central President of the Railway Prem Union also raised concerns about delayed salaries and outstanding dues for retired employees and widows. The Railways Minister pledged to develop a sustainable strategy to resolve these issues.
Sheikh Muhammad Anwar expressed the union’s full support for the Railways Minister’s vision and initiatives aimed at the broader improvement of the railway system.
