Abbottabad Remembers Bollywood Icon Manoj Kumar

ABBOTTABAD, News desk – The news of the passing of legendary Indian actor Manoj Kumar has resonated deeply in Abbottabad, the city in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province where he was born. Residents of Mohalla Nuruddin, the neighborhood Kumar once called home, have expressed their sadness and fondly recalled his connection to the area.

According to a report by PTV News correspondent Mohammad Ishfaq, Manoj Kumar, who dominated the Indian film industry for decades, was born in Abbottabad in 1937. His family migrated to Mumbai (then Bombay) during the partition of India.
While he built a monumental career across the border, his roots in Abbottabad were not forgotten. Neighbors in Mohalla Nuruddin remember a visit by the acclaimed actor approximately four decades ago. Accompanied by prominent Pakistani actors Mohammad Ali and Zeba, Manoj Kumar returned to his ancestral home, a moment still cherished by the community.
The news of his recent demise has brought a wave of nostalgia and sorrow to the area. Residents of Mohalla Nuruddin, who once shared a connection with the celebrated actor, are mourning the loss of a figure who, despite his long absence, remained a part of their local history.
