October 25, 2025: We recently got our hands on the Vivo X300 Pro, and after spending some time testing it, we can confidently say this phone deserves more attention than it gets. Vivo has always been an underdog in the smartphone camera world quietly delivering powerful results while others grab the spotlight. But with the X300 Pro, it looks like Vivo is done staying quiet.
This latest comparison comes from the well-known leaker IceUniverse, who decided to pit the Vivo X300 Pro against Samsung’s latest powerhouse, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The focus was on one of the toughest aspects of mobile photography, zoom performance, especially in low-light scenarios. Both phones are equipped with high-end hardware, but the X300 Pro managed to pull ahead quite convincingly.
Vivo’s new flagship has built around a Samsung-made 200MP ISOCELL HPB (HP10) sensor, paired with a ZEISS-optimized periscope lens system. This setup helps capture an impressive amount of detail, even when zoomed in far. On the other side, the Galaxy S25 Ultra features a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto lens and a 10MP 3x optical zoom camera. These are solid numbers on paper, but the real-world results tell a different story.
When IceUniverse shared zoom samples at 10x and 35x, the difference was easy to spot. Both phones captured similar color tones, but the Vivo X300 Pro produced sharper textures and much cleaner images. Noise levels were noticeably lower too, especially in dim lighting. The feathers and fine details in the bird photos, for example, were crisp and natural on the Vivo, while the Samsung images looked slightly smudged and grainy.
Samsung continues to lean heavily on software-based image processing to improve zoom quality. While this helps in daylight shots, it doesn’t quite match the raw clarity and optical performance that Vivo’s hardware delivers. At 35x zoom, the difference became even more obvious the X300 Pro handled the shot with confidence, while the S25 Ultra struggled to maintain sharpness and texture.
This comparison raises an interesting point about value. The Galaxy S25 Ultra sits at around $1200, while the Vivo X300 Pro costs roughly $750 in China. That’s a huge price gap, yet Vivo’s phone delivers better zoom photos one of the main areas where Samsung has traditionally excelled.
From our perspective, this test proves that Vivo is no longer just catching up; it’s starting to lead in camera innovation. The X300 Pro shows how good hardware, fine-tuned optics, and minimal software interference can create truly impressive results. If zoom photography or low-light performance matters to you, this phone deserves a spot at the top of your list.
Samsung still makes fantastic flagships, but this time, it’s clear who won the real-world battle. Let’s see if the Galaxy S26 Ultra can reclaim the throne next year.
