Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening military-to-military cooperation with Jordan and achieving a shared vision of a stable and peaceful region during a high-profile visit by Jordan’s King Abdullah II.
Jordanian Royal Visit and Key Engagements
King Abdullah II, accompanied by Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a delegation of Jordanian civil and military officials, arrived in Pakistan for a two-day official visit. The visit included stops at the Tilla Field Firing Ranges near Jhelum and Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS), Pakistan’s state-owned conglomerate specializing in military, industrial, and technological products.
During the GIDS visit, the King received a detailed briefing highlighting Pakistan’s achievements in indigenous defence production, technological innovation, and potential areas for bilateral collaboration in defence capabilities. The briefing showcased the wide-ranging product portfolio and operational capacity of GIDS, further solidifying Pakistan’s reputation in regional defence manufacturing.
Joint Fire and Manoeuvre Exercise
At the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, King Abdullah II, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other dignitaries, including Azerbaijan’s Defence Industry Minister Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, observed a joint fire and manoeuvre exercise. The exercise demonstrated Pakistan’s proficiency in multi-domain operations, encompassing conventional and air firepower, coordinated troop manoeuvres, and spectrum warfare capabilities, complemented by multi-purpose drones operating in various roles.
The Jordanian monarch expressed appreciation for the professionalism, high standards of training, and operational readiness exhibited by Pakistani troops and aircrews during the exercises.
Strengthening Historic Bonds
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s deep respect and enduring friendship with the Jordanian monarchy and people. He noted that the visit reflects mutual trust, shared values, and a commitment to regional peace and development.
In recognition of his contributions to bilateral defence cooperation, King Abdullah II conferred the Order of the Military Merit of First Degree upon COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir.
