First-Ever Legal Hunt of Non-Exportable Himalayan Grey Goral Completed in Torghar

Torghar, Pakistan — A rare and historic milestone in Pakistan’s wildlife conservation efforts was achieved as an American citizen, Darren James, successfully completed the legal hunt of the non-exportable Himalayan Grey Goral in Torghar’s Hassan Zai Kandhar area.

According to official sources, the hunt was conducted strictly in accordance with government policies, wildlife regulations, and under the supervision of the local community. Residents of the area described the event as a positive development and a proud moment for the region.

This marks the first time in Pakistan’s history that a non-exportable Grey Goral has been legally hunted under the Trophy Hunting Program. The American hunter appreciated the hospitality and cooperation of the local community during his stay.

The Wildlife Department confirmed that the Grey Goral hunt generated revenue of USD 54,500. As per policy, 80 percent of the proceeds will be deposited into the local
Conservation Committee’s account to support wildlife conservation and community development.

Overall, six non-exportable hunting permits were sold, generating a total revenue of USD 398,500. Officials stated that regulated trophy hunting contributes significantly to conservation efforts while providing sustainable economic benefits to local communities.
