Davos, Switzerland | January 2026: Morocco has formally joined the newly established Board of Peace, following the signing of its Founding Charter in Davos, Switzerland, upon the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al Quds Committee.
Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, signed the Charter on Thursday during an official ceremony held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The signing follows the King’s acceptance to join the initiative as a Founding Member, after an invitation extended by President Trump. According to the statement, the initiative aims to bolster peace efforts in the Middle East and promote a new approach to resolving conflicts worldwide.
Morocco and Bahrain were the first two countries to sign the Charter. Following their signatures, President Trump officially announced the Charter’s entry into force, thereby confirming the official establishment of the Board of Peace.
The signing ceremony was attended by around twenty Heads of State and Government, along with Foreign Ministers from the participating countries, including Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Azerbaijan and Argentina, among others.
Participation in the Board is reserved for an exclusive group of international leaders recognized for their commitment to peace, stability and global cooperation.
