Three Dead, Three Arrested After Suffocation in Manhole During Alleged PTCL Cable Theft in Mandi Bahauddin

Mandi Bahauddin: At least three persons were found dead inside a manhole on Waso Road in Mandi Bahauddin, while three others were arrested in connection with an alleged attempt to steal PTCL cables, police said on Wednesday.

According to police officials, six individuals had entered the manhole to steal underground PTCL cables. During the operation, three of them reportedly suffocated due to a lack of oxygen and died on the spot.

Police further revealed that the suspects were wearing uniforms bearing PTCL monograms and used to impersonate PTCL employees in order to carry out cable theft.

The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for post-mortem examination, while further investigation into the incident is underway.
