Islamabad, May 3, 2024: Telenor Velocity, Telenor Pakistan’s startup accelerator, has joined forces with Google Cloud to empower Pakistan’s entrepreneurs. As a Community Partner for the Google Cloud Startup Competition Pakistan 2024, Telenor Velocity aims to uncover and support the nation’s most promising tech ventures.
The Islamabad edition of the ‘Master Your Pitch’ series kicked off at Telenor Pakistan’s 345 campus, attracting 130 participants. Ten startups were selected to pitch their ideas to a panel of experts, including Faisal Aftab (Zayn VC), Ahsan Maykan (Telenor Pakistan), Rohma Labeeb (Accelerate Prosperity), and Sayyed Ahmad Masud (National Incubation Center Islamabad). The experts provided valuable feedback and suggestions on startup ideas and execution.
The event also featured workshops and insights on building sustainable business models and Generative AI from Google experts, including Saad Hamid (Growth Manager), Cynia Ejaz (Head of Corporate Innovation), Ershian Anwar (GDG Cloud Islamabad), and Ali Naqi (GDG Islamabad).
Startups can apply to five tracks in the Google Cloud Startup Competition, powered by Tech Valley Pakistan, focusing on AI, E-commerce, Fintech, Frontier Digital Technologies, and Sustainability. Areej Khan (Chief People Officer, Telenor Pakistan) emphasized the opportunities presented by the competition, while Farhan Qureshi (Country Director, Pakistan, Google) expressed excitement about partnering with Telenor Pakistan to empower Pakistan’s developers and startups.
The competition will select five finalists from each track based on product strength, market differentiation, growth potential, and team capabilities. The finalists will compete in the Grand Finals in Karachi in late July 2024, with each track winner receiving a cash prize of PKR 1 million and exclusive networking opportunities. The last date to apply is May 31, 2024.
