Chonian, Kasur – March 28, 2025 – Local police in Chonian, Kasur, are investigating a reported sexual assault attempt that occurred at Masjid Bilal during the Islamic practice of Itikaf, a religious retreat observed during the last ten days of Ramadan.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), filed on March 28, 2025, the incident took place in the early hours of March 27, 2025, at approximately 1:30 AM. The complainant, Ghulam Haider, alleges that his 16-17 year old son,
Usman, was assaulted by Ghulam Rasool, son of Siraj Din, while Usman was observing Itikaf at the mosque.
Haider claims that Rasool attempted to remove Usman’s clothing and tried to force him to an upper room in the mosque. The FIR states that other individuals present at the mosque, identified as Anwar, son of Yaqoob, and Yousaf, son of Abdul Ghafoor, witnessed the incident and intervened, causing the accused to flee.
Police have registered a case under section 377B of the Pakistan Penal Code, which pertains to unnatural offenses. The location of the alleged incident is Masjid Bilal, situated in Mohalla Kumharan Wala, Chonian, approximately one kilometer east of the police station.
