Islamabad, News Desk: easypaisa, Pakistan’s leading digital bank, hosted its Annual Stakeholder Dinner in Islamabad to mark the first anniversary of its digital banking operations and to celebrate its Partners in Progress. The event brought together senior government officials, regulators, policymakers, business leaders, media representatives, and members of the intelligentsia.
The ceremony was attended by Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, as the Chief Guest, along with Bilal Azhar Kayani, Minister of State for Finance, and Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination. easypaisa Board members and senior management were also present.
The event was hosted by Irfan Wahab Khan, Chairman of the Board, Douglas Feagin, Board Director and President of Ant International, and Jahanzeb Khan, President & CEO of easypaisa Digital Bank, who highlighted the bank’s progress in expanding digital financial services across Pakistan.
During the event, easypaisa announced a major partnership with Ant International, marking a significant milestone in its journey. Jahanzeb Khan revealed that easypaisa is collaborating with WorldFirst, an Ant Group–powered cross-border payments platform. WorldFirst enables payments in over 100 currencies across more than 210 countries and regions, positioning easypaisa to become the most globally connected digital bank in Pakistan.
Through this partnership, easypaisa customers will be able to receive remittances and cross-border payments from over 100 countries directly into their easypaisa accounts. The initiative aims to expand remittance access beyond traditional corridors such as the GCC, UK, and US, opening new opportunities for Pakistani freelancers, exporters, and overseas workers, with transparent exchange rates and fast, secure settlements.
Addressing the gathering, Shaza Fatima Khawaja congratulated easypaisa on completing its first year of digital banking operations and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting the digital economy. She stated that accelerating digitization is a key priority under the leadership of the Prime Minister, adding that the record growth in IT exports reflects positive momentum for Pakistan’s economy.
Bilal Azhar Kayani, Minister of State for Finance, commended easypaisa’s contribution to advancing cashless payments, emphasizing the importance of practitioner input in policymaking. He highlighted government priorities including merchant digitization, integration of digital payments with government services, and promotion of electronic transactions across sectors through a supportive regulatory framework.
Speaking on the occasion, Irfan Wahab Khan, Chairman of easypaisa’s Board, said the milestone represents a collective achievement for Pakistan’s financial ecosystem, reflecting the country’s progress in innovation, inclusion, and digital transformation.
Douglas Feagin, President of Ant International and Senior Vice President of Ant Group, reaffirmed Ant Group’s long-term commitment to Pakistan, stating that the partnership with easypaisa will continue to leverage technology to build a more inclusive financial future.
With a customer base representing one in every five Pakistanis, a 31 percent female user base, and over 3.8 billion transactions processed in 2025 valued at more than PKR 15 trillion approximately 11 percent of Pakistan’s GDP easypaisa Digital Bank continues to set new benchmarks in digital banking and financial empowerment across the country.
