WFP’s ShareTheMeal Campaign Seeks Support for School Meals in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Special Correspondent): The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has sought greater public awareness and support for its ShareTheMeal campaign, an initiative designed to help provide nutritious meals to schoolchildren in Pakistan.

In a communication to FLARE Magazine, WFP Pakistan Communications Officer Anam Zarufta Abbas said the organisation would welcome editorial and social media coverage of the campaign, which seeks to strengthen school meal programmes and support children’s nutrition, school attendance and learning.

WFP says inadequate nutrition affects children’s physical growth and their ability to focus and learn. According to the Pakistan campaign’s official ShareTheMeal page, more than 40 percent of Pakistani children under five experience stunting. Separately, UNICEF Pakistan estimates that approximately 25.1 million children aged 5 to 16 are out of school.
School meals can help children attend classes more regularly, improve concentration and support better educational and social outcomes, according to WFP. The organisation has also expressed interest in sharing relevant press material and exploring wider editorial collaboration.
