Soraya Sikander (born in Karachi) is among the top-ranking contemporary painters in South Asia. Soraya is known for her pioneering landscapes that combine elements of calligraphy and abstraction, resulting in a new genre of landscape painting. Her art redefines and reinterprets classic subject matter such as landscapes, still-lifes, and cityscapes, challenging methods and historical traditions in art, between bodies of work.

Soraya Sikander is celebrated internationally for her evolving style and subject matter, resulting in powerful artistic breakthroughs that challenge notions in art history, intersecting between East and West, influenced by traditional Asian ink drawings. For this new series, Soraya Sikander explores Birds and Butterflies in dramatic brushwork and color, that employ an intuitive approach to painting, resulting in refined and heavily textured surfaces. Her signature bare, silhouette trees are symbolic of renewal and rebirth.

The artist has held over twenty-five exhibitions and is the recipient of art awards including at The Art Circle Awards 2024 Abu Dhabi, Sahra Art Galleria Dubai, Etihad Gallery Museum, National Museum of Fine Arts Republic of Moldova, National Museum of Beijing, Beijing Biennale, International Painting Biennale, Lahore Biennale, etc. Her painting ‘The Sea’ was auctioned at Bonhams London.

Soraya Sikander’s art sells out completely and is in private collections, galleries, biennales and museums. The artist lives and

works in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

This is her first major solo exhibition in Pakistan after a gap of 6 years. Paintings on display from 02nd February to 07th February 2024.
