“PM’s Office Seeks Probe into PEMRA’s Meddling with FM Radio Stations in Ex-FATA Region”

Islamabad, Special Report: The Prime Minister’s Office has taken notice of complaints regarding Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s (PEMRA) interference with operational FM radio stations in the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the PM’s Office has sought a report on the matter, citing a complaint filed by Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The complaint alleges that PEMRA has been meddling with the operations of FM radio stations in the region, causing disruptions to their services.

The PM’s Office has directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to furnish a report on the matter at the earliest, indicating the seriousness with which the government is treating the issue.

This development comes amid growing concerns about media freedom and the role of regulatory authorities in Pakistan.

The outcome of the probe is expected to have significant implications for the future of FM radio broadcasting in the region.
