Gujarat, Pakistan – In an effort to eradicate polio, Gujarat district is launching a comprehensive anti-polio campaign from October 28th to 30th, followed by a two-day follow-up campaign on October 31st and November 1st. This initiative was announced by Deputy Commissioner Safdar Hussain Wark during a meeting held on World Polio Day, October 24th.
The campaign aims to vaccinate 514,982 children under the age of five and provide them with Vitamin A capsules. To ensure the campaign’s success, a detailed micro-plan has been formulated, with a significant increase in mobile and fixed vaccination teams. Over 5,000 personnel will be deployed, including 2,208 mobile teams, 122 fixed teams, and 33 transit points.
Deputy Commissioner Wark led an anti-polio awareness rally to emphasize the importance of the campaign. He urged parents to ensure their children receive the polio vaccine, stressing that it is the only solution to eradicate this debilitating disease. He also emphasized that negligence will not be tolerated, and the performance of polio teams will be closely monitored.
