BHIMBER, AZAD KASHMIR – The Special Communications Organization (SCO) has inaugurated its sixth Software Technology Park (STP) in Bhimber, Azad Kashmir. This initiative is part of SCO’s Vision 2025, which aims to transform Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) into thriving IT hubs.
Located within the SCO exchange building in Bhimber, the STP aligns with SCO’s vision of empowering youth by providing a sustainable IT ecosystem in AJK and GB. This is the twenty-first project under the plan to establish 50 STPs and Freelancing Hubs (FLHs) across AJK. Each facility offers modern office spaces, high-speed internet, and uninterrupted power supply, creating a conducive environment for startups and freelancers. The Bhimber STP has already attracted six startups and 24 freelancers.
During the inauguration ceremony, Major General Omer Ahmed Shah, HI(M), Director General SCO, emphasized that the Bhimber STP represents SCO’s commitment to building a robust digital ecosystem in AJK and GB. He highlighted the instrumental role of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in driving this vision and empowering the region’s youth. Major General Shah expressed his confidence in the potential of Pakistani youth, stating that they are second to none in terms of talent. He urged the youth of Azad Kashmir to leverage the facilities provided by SCO to their fullest potential.
Attendees of the ceremony recognized SCO’s contributions and efforts in promoting IT as a significant milestone in the economic development of Azad Kashmir. Young professionals expressed their gratitude to SCO for providing them with opportunities to excel in the IT sector.
