Murree – In a high-stakes joint operation, the Forestry Department, Punjab Police, and district administration successfully seized a significant quantity of illegally harvested timber in the Bhimala Samli area of Murree. However, the raid was met with violent resistance, including gunfire, from members of the timber mafia.
According to official reports, the smugglers were using camels to transport the illegally felled timber from the forest to a private residence, where it was being stored for further distribution. Acting on a tip-off, authorities launched a targeted raid on the location.
As officials moved in, the timber mafia fiercely resisted the operation, attempting to obstruct law enforcement and opening fire on the raiding team. Despite the dangerous standoff, security forces stood their ground and managed to secure the illegal timber stockpile.
An FIR (First Information Report) No. 31/25 has been filed against the culprits, and a full-scale investigation is now underway. Authorities have pledged to crack down on illegal logging operations and ensure that those responsible for forest destruction and endangering law enforcement face the full force of the law.
This operation highlights the ongoing struggle against deforestation and illegal timber trade in the region, with officials urging the public to report any suspicious activities related to environmental crimes.
