Pakistan’s Mobile Phone Industry Maintains Momentum as Over 2.2 Million Handsets Imported and Assembled in June

ISLAMABAD: Zubair Kasuri: Pakistan’s mobile phone manufacturing and import sector maintained strong momentum during June 2026, with more than 2.21 million handsets imported or cleared for local supply, according to brand-wise customs data reviewed by this correspondent.

The available records show that a total of 2,219,879 mobile phones entered the market during the month. Of these, 1,313,280 were feature phones, accounting for 59.16 percent, while 906,599 were smartphones, representing 40.84 percent of the total.

The figures indicate that although smartphone adoption continues to expand, feature phones still account for the larger share of Pakistan’s mobile handset market.

Brand-wise data shows that Infinix remained the market leader during June with 297,500 units, capturing 13.40 percent of total shipments. Itel ranked second with 230,000 units (10.36 percent), followed by G Five with 210,000 units (9.46 percent).

Nokia secured fourth position with 172,700 units (7.78 percent), while Pakistan’s QMobile ranked fifth after supplying 153,000 units, equivalent to 6.89 percent of the market. Samsung recorded 123,085 units (5.54 percent), closely followed by Vivo with 122,400 units (5.51 percent).

Other brands with notable volumes included Calme, Sego, E-Tachi, Club Mobile, HMD, Vgotel, Xiaomi, Villaon, Oppo, Realme, X Mobile, Zeetell, Nexel, Tecno, Digit, Gresso, Utell and Dcode.

The customs data indicates that Chinese brands continued to dominate Pakistan’s handset market in June, while Pakistani, South Korean and other international brands maintained their presence across different market segments.

Pakistan currently has more than 30 companies involved in the local assembly of mobile phones for various international brands. The expansion of domestic assembly operations has increased the availability of handsets across different price categories and strengthened competition in the local market.

The June figures also suggest that demand for affordable feature phones remains significant despite the continued growth of the smartphone segment, reflecting varying consumer preferences across urban and rural markets.
