LESCO & IESCO ASKED TO ENSURE TRANSPARACY IN $488 MILLION AMI PROJECT

A review meeting on progress of 488 million dollars AMI meters project in Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) was held today under the Chairmanship of Secretary Power Division Mr. Irfan Ali.

The meeting was apprised that the project in both DISCOs is in advance stage and bidding evaluation process is under way in IESCO and LESCO bids are ready to be floated. The meeting was further briefed that in LESCO the AMI project cost is estimated at 300 million dollars while that of IESCO its estimate are around 188 million dollars with 80% ADB and 20% own source funding module.

Secretary Power Division while expressing satisfaction over the process emphasized ensuring transparency during all stages of the project execution. He further directed that the AMI meters should be user friendly for consumers in both the DISCOs.

The meeting was attended by high officials of Power Division, PEPCO, CEO IESCO, ADB and LESCO teams working on the project.
