Multan Sultans’ Hero Iftikhar Ahmed Acknowledges Fielding Woes in PSL 9

Multan Sultans’ star performer, Iftikhar Ahmed, addressed the post-match press conference after a thrilling encounter against Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9. Expressing concern over fielding standards, Iftikhar emphasized the critical role of fielding in a team’s journey to championship status.

“To become a champion, fielding needs to improve for every team. We have fielded terribly in all three matches,” Iftikhar candidly commented, highlighting the need for enhanced fielding performance across PSL teams.

In terms of bowling, Iftikhar noted a significant improvement for Multan Sultans, transforming it into a team strength. He acknowledged the evolution of the team’s bowling prowess from the last PSL season to the current one.

Reflecting on his role as a batsman, Iftikhar mentioned his focus on maximizing runs in the death overs, considering it a crucial aspect of his responsibilities in both national and PSL teams. He emphasized the enjoyment of top-order batting in white-ball formats and highlighted the changed dynamics of facing Multan Sultans’ improved bowling lineup.

Iftikhar’s perspective on batting high up in the order resonates with the challenges and strategies associated with the white-ball format. He stressed the importance of consistency, especially when chasing down large totals, as a key factor in winning multiple matches.

Despite acknowledging the fielding woes, Iftikhar Ahmed remains a key player for Multan Sultans, contributing significantly with both bat and ball in the ongoing PSL 9.
