Peshawar Zalmi’s Head Coach, Daren Sammy, has shed light on the absence of fast bowling talent, Shamar Joseph, from the squad in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9. According to Sammy, Joseph sustained a toe injury while representing the West Indies in Australia, causing a delay in his arrival in Pakistan for PSL 9.
“Shamar Joseph is still recovering from his toe injury,” Sammy explained, addressing the anticipation of fans awaiting the West Indian bowler’s participation in the PSL.
Despite the setback, Sammy acknowledged the responsibility of the batting group, emphasizing the need for more responsibility in their performances. He assessed the conditions and playing area dimensions, suggesting that a score of 175-180 would have been par for the course. Sammy attributed the team’s shortfall to the batting lineup, falling short by 20-25 runs in his analysis.
Remaining optimistic, Sammy instilled confidence in the team, stating, “It’s not how we start, it’s how we’ll finish.” Despite initial losses in PSL 9, he expressed confidence that Peshawar Zalmi would bounce back, qualify for the playoffs, and make a strong finish in the tournament. As a former player-turned-coach, Sammy brings his experience and leadership to guide Peshawar Zalmi through the challenges of PSL 9.
